I can't even deny it right now, this Monday thing sucks the big, massive, King Kong one today. The dogs wanted nothing to do with the light drizzle that fell on our heads this morning, every person on the road was driving like they picked up their license at their nearest Walmart, and this coffee just doesn't want to go down as fast as I really need it to. Basically, I wouldn't mind if this day kindly effed off and it's not even 10am yet.
I digress, no one likes a complainer Carol.
On a happier note, we gained an extra hour over the weekend and while I absolutely needed to use it to strictly catch up on sleep, I ended up using it for an additional hour of drinking. Which, if I'm being totally honest here, was probably a bit unnecessary and slightly aggressive. But, oh yeah... MY NOLES WON SO IT'S TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE. Also, this picture was taken right before kickoff and, let's be honest, you can tell bear knew what was coming his way while I'm just happy as a little clammy clam.
Sorry, bear. You're still my favoritest.
Back on track, I missed showing you what I did on Friday night and I have to show you because I'm friggen proud of myself. You see, on Thursday night I went to dinner at a new restaurant that opened downtown and one of the things we ordered was a cheese plate. A really freaking delicious cheese plate. It had a goat cheese on it that absolutely blew my mind and has since left me yearning for all of the goat cheeses in all of the land.
So, Friday night, after I woke up from my late afternoon nappy, I ventured out to Publix in search of goat cheese. In addition to the Purple Haze goat cheese (Which is seriously amazing, if you've never tried it.) I walked out with, some Vermont cheddar, Chorizo, and Pancetta came along for the Friday night fiesta, too. A glass or two of boxed vino soon joined the party, some minor adjustments to my new about me page went down, and Hocus Pocus came in for the grand finale. Friday night was a pretty sweet reminder that getting old isn't always so terrible.
Saturday was spent prepping for the big game and attempting to spend as much quality time with bear before him and I stopped speaking for the majority of the evening. And, really, just like that, once 8:30 hit and that football was kicked across the beautiful Doak field, there were a total of about six words passed between the two of us until easily midnight.
It was a beautiful night, and not just because my Noles won, though that did help... just a little bit. Or a lot bit. Minor details. There was a chill in the Florida air that we typically don't feel for another month, or so, which just made the night that much better. We had a small fire burning, made some smores, and took enough Fireball shots to empty out an entire handle. You know, because we're proactive people. We believe in warming from the inside out, of course.
Man, I love college football, great friends, and gaining an extra hour on a Saturday night.
Oh Fall, you really are my favorite. Just don't tell Summer because my birthday would be insanely offended and jealous of such a statement.
See you tomorrow!
