For instance, I was in my kitchen cooking the other day when Ants Marching by Dave Matthews Band came on and I was instantly brought back to tailgating outside of Doak Campbell stadium. Which is actually kind of shocking considering usually those days started with kegs and eggs, which meant by the time we headed to the 12 o'clock tailgate, I was already headed towards the blackout fuzzies.
See below:
Dammit, I miss college.
Not so much those acrylic nails.
It's funny how times change. How I can go from relating a song to tailgating like a maniac, and frolicking around frat houses, to now chopping up some garlic in my kitchen.
Slightly depressing.
And then there's songs like Get Low by Lil Jon and I can't help but to think about the days when my friends and I thought drinking Hpnotiq was the absolute coolest thing in the world.
And when we used to dance on the pool table at my friend's parent's house.
No, seriously...
It doesn't get much cooler than this, my friends. Barf.
I'll forever relate songs like that to those unforgettably forgettable nights, the summer after I graduated high school.
And then there's the 80's song... damn the 80's songs. Take Me Home Tonight by Eddie Money, a jukebox classic. Right next to Don't Stop Believing by Journey and Piano Man by Billy Joel. You knew when these songs came on the jukebox, your night was coming to an end, but they always used to complete any great night out.
These songs also meant it was time to find a pledge to drive you through Guthries.
Oh, these songs. They all take me back to the days I probably shouldn't even be capable of remembering.
Thank the sweet beer lawd that I do, though.
And thank that same lawd I still have alllll of these pictures around. Or maybe I shouldn't be so thankful. Scratch that, I am thankful... now I have more blogging material. What has my life become?
To complete this trip down memory lane I'm backing my azz up to a college classic and also leaving you with this 7 year old photo that explains so much.
This one takes me back to 2006 formal.
