She loved it! She enjoyed being in charge of the menus and asking diners 'how many' when they came through the door. She helped guide them to their tables and gave them menus. She did a great job! I think she was in her social element and enjoyed this first 'job experience.'
She also discovered that she does like zucchini. I usually stir-fry zucchini and squash in some butter or olive oil with some salt and pepper. Kayla and Lucas try it each time I offer it, and repeatedly say they don't like it. The manager gave Kayla some edamame hummus (she likes hummus, I just wasn't sure she was going to like the flavor of the edamame hummus) with fresh zucchini to dip it in. I thought upon hearing the word zucchini that Kayla would say, "ewww I don't like zucchini!" but she didn't bat an eye. She picked one up and dipped it in the hummus and said "mmmm!" She ate it all. Then she said, "I want more zucchini and hummus!" I guess now I know how to serve zucchini to Kayla!
So thankful to Mosaic Cafe for giving DSAL this opportunity to raise awareness about Down syndrome.
