We spent our last day in Denmark in Copenhagen which included seeing the statue of the Little Mermaid.

My cousin asking Lucas which car he would pick.

Ferry to Sweden

Penulis : Unknown on Tuesday, 11 September 2012 | 19:20

Tuesday, 11 September 2012

When we were planning our vacation to Denmark this past June, I knew I wanted to take a ferry across to Sweden. I knew it was a short trip across the water, the kids could experience a ferry ride, and we could visit another country. Thankfully our resort was about an hour from the ferry dock of Helsingor to Helsingbor, so we were able to make it happen.

On our way to the ferry we stopped so I could take this picture looking across to Sweden.

Making herself comfy on the ferry!

Arriving in Sweden. Not sure the reason/significance of the flags, but it was neat to see flags from around the world.

If I remember right this is City Hall.

 Begging for more ice cream.

Jump! Jump!

I'm so glad my sister was able to join us on our trip to Denmark ... we had some fun times!

Enjoying some wine on a beautiful evening

Then we decided to try a few of those 'jumping' pictures. They turned out pretty well!

Kayla was watching us and when we got back inside she wanted to take jumping pictures too.

Danish Cousins

Penulis : Unknown on Saturday, 1 September 2012 | 19:56

Saturday, 1 September 2012

I'm glad we were able to hang out with my cousins in Denmark as much as we did during our week there. One of my cousins has a son who is 10 days older than Lucas. It was fun letting our kids get to hang out.

The didn't speak each others language, but the universal language of children everywhere - toys! cars! saved the day.

Glimpse of The Queen

Penulis : Unknown on Saturday, 7 July 2012 | 20:01

Saturday, 7 July 2012

In one of the tourist-type magazines in our resort I read that The Royal Couple moves in to their residence at Fredensborg Palace in April. We were too late to see the changing of the guards, which happens at noon, but I thought the kids might enjoy watching the guards march back and forth.

We also, unexpectedly, got a very brief glimpse of The Royal Couple. As we were standing there gawking at the palace the guard returned to his spot, called to attention, and we noticed a car fast approaching the gate. The car was followed closely by a black SUV - which we guessed was like our Secret Service. It all happened so fast so we weren't prepared to really look in the vehicle, but my sister saw The Queen in the back of the car. Pretty neat!

Lucas was using the Flip camera and I didn't look at it until we were back home. He caught the whole arrival on video. Poor kid, he keeps asking my sister "get what?" and no one answers him!

The Royal car minus the royal passengers

In the public part of the palace gardens.

Kayla was sitting in front of this statue and it appears he is looking directly at her. I told her to turn around and look at it and she said, "Eww! I don't like this man!" and scurried down the hill.
