Back That Sequin Azz Up

Penulis : Unknown on Monday, 15 July 2013 | 09:21

Monday, 15 July 2013

Today is going to be real short and sweet because I can still taste the remnants of yesterday's free Miller Lite and Fireball shots and I've been pleading for this computer screen to stop spinning since 10 this morning.

This is what my weekend looked like.
Yes, that's a cat in a laundry basket. I was amused.

Friday was a killer night because I rocked these sequin shorts from Kiki La'Rue and nothing says "party" quite like your azz being adorned in sequins. Oh, and my Target hooker heels which I successfully refrained from falling in the bushes with this time around. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Saturday I lost my car key in a lake and I cried.
Seriously though, that sucked.

Yesterday I planned to have a relaxing day by the pool but then it rained so I took a nap. And then I was told there were free drinks being served at the bar my friends were at... and then I woke up this morning and was pretty sure death was near. I guess I dodged the bullet on the whole death thing since I finally made it around to post today.

Even if this is the worst post in the land of blogging. My apologies.

See you tomorrow.
Sequin azz out.

Sunday Funday with Olivia!

Penulis : Unknown on Sunday, 14 July 2013 | 07:51

Sunday, 14 July 2013

Happy Sunday Funday, my friends. While I'm getting ready to go soak by the pool for a few hours with my good buddy, Miller, allow me to introduce you to a fabulous blonde blogger, Oliva Irwin!

1.    What made you decide to start a blog?
I like to think of blogging as my creative outlet. I love taking photographs, writing, and social media, so having a blog seemed like something I would like! I started it when I was living with my ex-boyfriend for the summer, and was bored when he was at work!

2.    What do you want to do "when you grow up"?

I’ve never really had a dream career. If I had to choose, I would love to oversee some type of Advertising or Marketing agency. But ideally, I would love to be a stay at home mom! I’ve always seen myself in that role more than having a career, who knows where I’ll end up though!

3.    What's your idea of the perfect day?

Hmmm, so many perfect days I can think of! I think my perfect day would be spent in New York City with my family, exploring the city, seeing new things, trying new foods. New York is my favorite place, and there is always so much going. I love the energy of the city!

4.    Share one or two favorite posts that you've written and tell us why they're your favorite.

This is one of my more recent posts. My little brother is half way through high school, and it got me thinking how long I’ve been out of it! I thought it would be fun to think about what college me would tell high school me! I definitely could have saved myself some embarrassment if I could have somehow followed my own advice!

This is Whitney popping in to also include this post Oliva posted the other day. Fabulous use of Gifs, my friend!

5.    I see you like to run. What does your typical playlist look like? You know we all like to #backthatazzup around these parts!

Music is great to have on while you’re running. It distracts you from the fact that you’re sweating buckets and about to fall over, as well as helping you keep your pace up!

Here are some of my new favorite songs in general, that I love running to:

Play Hard- David Guetta ft. NeYo & Akon
Blurred Lines- Robin Thicke
Can’t Hold Us- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
I Love It- Icona Pop
Amnesia- Ian Carey & Rosette
Nobody’s Business- Rihanna ft.Chris Brown
Good Girl- Carrie Underwood
Otis- Kanye West & Jay-Z
The Thrill- Wiz Khalifa
Come On Girl- Taio Cruz

Love this fabulous girl!! Everyone be sure to go check her out.

Remembering My Dad

Penulis : Unknown on Friday, 12 July 2013 | 10:52

Friday, 12 July 2013

I dreaded this day coming; the one year mark to end my dad's 3.5 yr battle with pancreatic cancer.

"Eulogy for dad" has quickly become one of the top search phrases that have landed people on my blog. I hate that. But every time I see that phrase has led someone to my eulogy for my dad, I say a little prayer for the person who did that search.

Thank you all for your suggestions on what I should do to mark this day. I realized that last week when we were on our vacation we were doing things my dad would've loved to do. He loved being outdoors ... going for walks, hiking trails etc. He would have loved the pictures I shared. He would have laughed, and been surprised, at us continuing our walk in the rain to the waterfall. I could hear his voice in my head, teasing me about that, exclaiming that I took the kids out in the rain.

So today, to remember my dad, this is my to-do list:
- Have one of those good, long, ugly, hard cries
- If the rain holds off, take kids for a bike ride
- Pull up YouTube and listen to the hits by the Four Seasons: Working My Way Back To You, Big Girls Don't Cry, Sherry, Candy Girl, Walk Like A Man because when I was growing up I remember my dad listening to and singing those songs
A lot.
- Sit down w/Kayla and Lucas and look through pictures of my dad
- Pull out the old video tape from when Kayla was born and cross my fingers that I have my dad on that tape
- Write messages with the kids, to my dad, on Flying Wish Paper and send the wishes up in the sky
- Wear our Purple Stride Pancreatic Cancer walk shirts
- Wear our Boston Red Sox caps
- Take the kids bowling
- Smile
- Make a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
- Order flowers to be delivered to FL so someone can place them on my dad's grave site
- Try not to relieve what I was doing every hour of the day this time last year
- Probably have one more good cry

10 Reason You Should Be Drinking Boxed Wine

If you're new here you may not be aware that I have an affinity for wine that comes in a box. You know, the kind people give you a hard side eye for carrying around the grocery store because they assume you're a member of the Honey Boo Boo household? Rest assured I live in an entirely different state and I am repulsed by the idea of putting butter and ketchup on sketti.

A lot of people aren't down with this boxed wine movement and I'm here today to tell you why those people are flat out wrong and why boxed wine is the only decision you need to make when you're pacing up and down the wine isle at the grocery store, unsure of which $5 bottle of wine to select.

There are FOURTEEN glasses of wine in one box.
Do you know how many glasses a little bottle of wine averages? Four. Those of you who aren't so great at math, I got my calculator out and guess what? A box holds TEN more glasses of wine than a bottle. Just wrap your mind around that and let it explode.

You can get a box of wine that looks like a purse.
Call me easily amused but that's just spectacular and classy. So, while you're doing your Pinterest projects, which are likely to be failed projects, with your bottles of wine, I'm going to be over here making some snowflakes out of the leftover boxes I've got going on.

Saves trips to the grocery store.
Is there anything worse than coming home and realizing you had a heavier buzz than you realized last night because you finished the wine and didn't even remember doing it? (Just say yes) That rarely ever happens to me with boxed wine. You know why? Because there's FOURTEEN damn glasses in that mofo and that makes it much more challenging to clear out in one night. Trust me, I've tried.

Katie Holmes thinks boxed wine is the tits.
And let's get real, if Joey Potter thinks it's cool, it's gotta be really damn cool because Joey was always such a class act.

Let's not talk about the Tom Cruise thing, k?

The bladder floats.
Going out on the lake and need a floatation device? The plastic bag inside of the cardboard box friggen floats which gives you optimal opportunities to not only save your life but also get hammered drunk on the water. Win, win, wine!

You can smuggle little boxed wine in places.
Going to the movies? Tag along your mini boxed wine and get your drink on during the movie. Going to a party without alcohol? Come on little buddy, you're coming to keep mama happy and sane. These guys will be your best buds. The best part? You can even shove a straw in those bad boys. #mindblown

Boxed wine will keep you on budget.
That's right, those pesky $5 headaches in a bottle may seem lighter on your wallet compared to the $13 price tag on a box of Franzia but just remember the glass ratio. I wont even attempt the math here because I forgot how to use a scientific calculator but I have enough smartz to know that boxed wine is just more economical. It's Science. Or math?

Bring a box with you and you'll be the life of the party.
True story, I have a special cooler that fits my boxed wine like a little glove. I like to bring it to the pool on Saturdays when I'm maxin' and relaxin'. You want to know what happens when I bust that baby out? I'm instantly everyone's new bestie and everyone wants to sit by me. It's a damn conversation piece and you wont be sorry when everyone around you is conversing of boxed wine. Boom, hero for the day.

It's got a convenient spout.
No dealing with corks and screws and foil and dropping cork pieces in your beloved wine. Just open the cardboard hole and let that sweet nectar of the gods flow out into your glass like the liquid gold it is. Just try not to let your mouth water too much as it's flowing out. You do want a nice, full glass, after all. You do have 13 more to pour after that one.

You can call it cardbordeaux and sound all fancy like.
If you're not ready to fully admit you're a fan of the boxed wine, just go ahead and throw the term "cardbordeaux" at your friends. They'll be super impressed and think you're an expert wine enthusiast. Which you obviously are, duh.

And there you have it, my friends. 10 completely valid points as to why you should all be ditching those little bottles of wine and go for the box. You can thank me later. I accept all brands of boxed wine.

Now let's cheers with some delicious cardbordeaux and #backthatazzup!

This week I'm kicking it with Amy Winehouse and a song that I can't help but to back my azz up to. Enjoy, link up, and have a fabulous friggen weekend!

Find Yourself A Pageant Girl

Penulis : Unknown on Thursday, 11 July 2013 | 15:00

Thursday, 11 July 2013

Hey friends, bet you didn't think you'd be seeing another post from me today, didja? Well, you were partially right, this post is not written by me. It's written by my lawyer friend slash sponsor, Catherine. Enjoy!

Hi y'all! I'm Catherine from Bailey Dailies! I am a lawyer in my little town in northern Alabama and sadly, I don't get to wear yoga pants to work. I would pay money to do so if I could, though, because I love to be nice and comfy! Of course, I do love getting all fancy and dolled up but what girl doesn't? I have had to be super fancy lately because my sister was Miss Alabama USA in the Miss USA pageant in Vegas (hello first runner up!!!) and I couldn't be Miss Alabama's dowdy 29 year old lawyer sister, am I right? Anyway, aside from that pageant craziness, my blog is just about my life with my husband and our 4 fur babies. You'll find posts about our weekend, places we travel, recipes, random things I'm thinking about, and lots of pics of our furry critters. We just put our house on the market and are looking for an upgrade, so I'm hopefully about to have lots of fun design posts in the coming months!
Anyway, since last month was all about my sister on my blog, I'm going to give you a quick run down of why you too should try to be a pageant sister, or at least maybe find a pageant girl you can cling to:

1. You get to take a whole week off of work to go to Vegas and your boss (aka dad) can't get mad.
photo null_zps2f9fa184.jpg(He also can't get mad about the day you took off to take her to the airport, or the one you took off to shop)

2. People always come up and congratulate you on your sister's accomplishments and then make sure to add that "you are pretty too".

Minus the height difference, I'm pretty sure you can tell we are sisters.

3. You get to buy LOTS of new clothes, shoes, purses, make up, hair products, etc because you simply can't go to Vegas looking like you are a 29 year old lawyer from Alabama while staying in a hotel with 51 pageant girls. Your husband may get mad about this but he can't say anything about it because it is for your sister.  I mean, if your sister needs you too look good by purchasing $18 hair spray he really can't deny her, right?
 photo null_zps836f5c8c.jpg
See those awesome curls and that cute sparkly dress? That don't come for free, husband!

4. You are automatically cool because you are "Alabama's sister" (or whatever state it may be) and so the pageant peeps invite you to all kinds of pageant soirees and you get to do lots of fun Vegas stuff for free.
 photo null_zps61b1f1bd.jpg
See these regular people in the pool? Well I was breaking it down on stage, next to the DJ, with free bottle service. (Mind you, had we not been pageant "VIPs", we wouldn't have even made it into this pool--no way, not ever. Thanks for that, sister.)

5. You get to meet and stalk tons of celebs all the while trying to keep your cool!

 photo famouspeople_zps9f10d259.jpg
Obvious first celeb is my sis (that's me with her and my brother) and then we have the Property Brothers, Donald Trump's head, Shanna Moakler, Pauly D, 2 Jonas Brothers, Mo Rocca, and a Duck Dynasty guy!

Not too shabby, right? So go out and find yourself a pageant girl today! Hope you all will stop by my blog and take a peek! You can also find me on bloglovin, twitter, and instagram. Thanks you SO much to my girl Whitney for letting me commandeer her blog for today!! You are the greatest!
