Spotify the Snitch

Penulis : Unknown on Friday, 17 May 2013 | 05:00

Friday, 17 May 2013

Now that I'm into this blogging thing and I've got my groove going on with it, I just really can't help but love when ridiculous things happen to me because it means I have more material. More material = more blogging. More blogging = more happy readers. More happy readers = euphoria.

Ok, maybe that was slightly dramatic but you get it.
Or maybe you don't.

Anyways, on Wednesday night I walked my happy ass over to the bar I frequent to meet one of my guy friends to play darts and have a few drinks.
Drinks were flowing, I was kicking some ass in darts (or maybe I wasn't... who knows?) and I was having a great time, as usual. No big deal.

Out of nowhere, my friend decides to blast me about a little song choice I made on Spotify earlier that day. He said to me, "Why the (insert explicative here) were you listening to Ashlee Simpson today?".
Here is where I almost broke up with Spotify.

And then I freeze.
Mostly because all of the people I typically hang out with at said bar heard and I knew it was definite means for some serious judgement.
Insert bright red, tomato-like, Whit face here.

Well, one thing that we always do when we go to bars is bust out our TouchTunes app and get some good jams going on the jukebox.
What do you think happened next?

Pieces of Me by Ashlee Simpson streaming through all of the speakers of the bar that I frequent at least 2-4 times a week.
Great.
The death stares, questions, and accusations start as if it was the most offensive thing ever.
Which it very well might have been, if we're being honest here.

Anyways, moral of this story is be careful what you play on Spotify.
Because Spotify is like the snitch in class who always told on you for forgetting to bring your textbook to class.

I digress.

Let's get this party started.

I just can not get enough of this song right now.
Judge me if you would like, it's just pure party in a song.

It's #backthatazzup Friday!

10 Things Bloggers Should Never Do

Penulis : Unknown on Friday, 10 May 2013 | 05:00

Friday, 10 May 2013

Before we back our azzes up today, I've put together a list of things bloggers should never do. Take with a grain of salt, or a bag or salt, whichever you prefer.

Also, I feel like I should add that, really, this could be for everyday life, too. Not just for bloggers.
I'm looking at you, Non-Blogging Blog Readers.

like, ever.

1. Don't be an assface.
You once had 1 follower, too. Just stop being an assface, k?
Capiche? Capiche.

2. Don't be a party pooper.
Someone else gets retwitted by someone cool, someone else hits 500 followers, someone else's post goes viral... WOOH! You go celebrate with them because celebrating is F-U-N fun!

3. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
If someone does something nice for you, be nice to them.
Hashtag rocket science.

4. Quit judging people by their blog's outfit.
Most of us all had one of those pre-made blog designs at one point. Let it go.
They can always change their clothes tomorrow.

5. Don't beg for attention.
Just don't. Pretty please, with a cherry on top.
Unless you post a photo of yourself with a sign clearly begging for something. That would be pretty funny.

6. Don't be afraid to par-tay!
If something exciting happens to you, throw a damn party. Why the hell not?
There are some really exciting things that can happen for bloggers. It's ok to be excited!

7. Don't throw away failed DIY project posts.
Nothing says "post win!" quite like a wreath that fell apart before you took pictures for the blog.
Personally, I love seeing a good fail.

8. Don't get too big for your blog's britches.
We're bloggers not royalty. Remember it, write it on your hand if you have to.

9. Don't be afraid to dance it out.
Or whatever it is that you feel like doing/writing. Go for it.
Be one with your freak flag and let it fly high.

10. Don't be a Catfish.
Really, not a good look for the blogging community.
Or any community, in general. Well, unless you live in water. Then I guess it's ok to be a catfish.

11. Don't participate in #backthatazzupfriday
Kidding, obviously, you should always back that azz up.
Let's do this thing!

This week's song is just a classic and I can't help but feel like a real gangsta every time I listen to it.

When Songs Attack

Penulis : Unknown on Friday, 3 May 2013 | 04:56

Friday, 3 May 2013

It's fascinating to me that certain songs can instantly bring me back to a certain time and place in my life, based on when and where I heard said song.

For instance, I was in my kitchen cooking the other day when Ants Marching by Dave Matthews Band came on and I was instantly brought back to tailgating outside of Doak Campbell stadium. Which is actually kind of shocking considering usually those days started with kegs and eggs, which meant by the time we headed to the 12 o'clock tailgate, I was already headed towards the blackout fuzzies.

See below:

Dammit, I miss college.
Not so much those acrylic nails.

It's funny how times change. How I can go from relating a song to tailgating like a maniac, and frolicking around frat houses, to now chopping up some garlic in my kitchen.

Slightly depressing.

And then there's songs like Get Low by Lil Jon and I can't help but to think about the days when my friends and I thought drinking Hpnotiq was the absolute coolest thing in the world.

And when we used to dance on the pool table at my friend's parent's house.

No, seriously...

It doesn't get much cooler than this, my friends. Barf.

That may, or may not, be how we celebrated my 18th birthday.
I'll forever relate songs like that to those unforgettably forgettable nights, the summer after I graduated high school.

And then there's the 80's song... damn the 80's songs. Take Me Home Tonight by Eddie Money, a jukebox classic. Right next to Don't Stop Believing by Journey and Piano Man by Billy Joel. You knew when these songs came on the jukebox, your night was coming to an end, but they always used to complete any great night out.

These songs also meant it was time to find a pledge to drive you through Guthries.

Oh, these songs. They all take me back to the days I probably shouldn't even be capable of remembering.
Thank the sweet beer lawd that I do, though.

And thank that same lawd I still have alllll of these pictures around. Or maybe I shouldn't be so thankful. Scratch that, I am thankful... now I have more blogging material. What has my life become?

To complete this trip down memory lane I'm backing my azz up to a college classic and also leaving you with this 7 year old photo that explains so much.

This one takes me back to 2006 formal.
But that's a different story for a different post. Just enjoy this throwback and let's get to jamming out!

I'm officially one of THOSE people.

Penulis : Unknown on Friday, 26 April 2013 | 05:00

Friday, 26 April 2013

Well my friends, it's happened. I'm officially one of those people.

What kind of people, you ask? The kind whose shopping cart at Publix resembles rabbit food.

Exhibit A:

Yep, you're looking at the correct blog. It's me, Yoga Pants Whitney and I've actually been wearing my yoga pants for real physical activity as opposed to eating my body weight in Bagel Bites on my sofa every night.

Insert deep sigh here and don't worry, I'm not going to start juicing kale anytime soon. It's still me, I promise.

I wish I could tell you all of this was entirely for how my ass looks in a bikini but it's actually a little deeper, if you can believe that. If you're new around here you may not be aware, but I suffer from severe anxiety which I do not medicate outside of a few glasses of wine. Well, it seems now I have yet another way of medicating my anxiety and it's in the gym.

Yes, you actually read the word gym on my blog and I'm not mocking it. Who am I?

Well, I'm the person now who goes to the gym, sweats Chardonnay, and wakes up sore the next morning. This morning, at 6am (again, who the fackkk am I?), made for my 5th consecutive day at the gym and I've honestly never felt more relaxed and at ease with my anxiety in my life.

Obviously I should have listened to Elle Woods all of those years ago when she insisted that endorphins make people happy but that's just how I am... Sometimes it takes me a little too long to listen to what's good for me. Either way, I'm totally smelling what she's stepping in now and I'm pretty excited about it.

Don't worry, I'm still drinking my wine out of the box and you better bet your ass I'll be having my oven baked Bagel Bites on occasion but, for now, I'm enjoying the free peace of mind I've got going on.

Even if it does make me sore which casuses me to waddle like I've got something stuck right up my azz.

Speaking of azz, let's get this show on the road!

Friday, 12 April 2013

Hey, Friday! How the hell are you, you sexy thing?
Today I have a little (awesome) announcement and, of course, #backthatazzupfriday!

Next Thursday (April 18th) I'll be on my merry way to New York City to visit one of my most favorite people in all of the land, Erin, and in honor of this we have both decided that we are going to host a one day link up that day...

When I Grow Up...
Thursday, April 18th

So, yes, technically we are all considered grown ups but lezbihonestttt, there are still eleventy billion things we all think of regularly that we would like to obtain when we grow up. Soooo, next Thursday we want you to revert back to your little kid self and share some things you want when you grow up!

Your things can be anything from what kind of house you want to live in to what kind of ring you want to wear on your left finger to what kind of car you want to drive. Or maybe even what your pool boy will look like.

Sounds fun to me! Hope to see you there!
And now for more funnnnn...

This one is in honor of this quite eventful weekend around Blog Land.
